The Black Belt is earned by relatively few people who begin their martial arts journey.  It represents the ability to use the system to defend one's self, the understanding of the principles and how they are applied, and the ability to pass along the art to the next generation.

During the years of training, the kenpoist has not only learned the material, but has learned about himself. Individual strengths and weaknesses, preferences and mindset have been molded into a unique interpretation of kenpo.

As a black belt continues to grow and tailor their personal kenpo, it will also be understood that another's individual attributes may not be identical to his own. Therefore, the whole art will be preserved and passed down the line.

Kids and Teens will continue beyond their black belts to learn the upper belt Adult material, and will be promoted from Junior Black Belt to Teen Black Belt to Adult Black Belt as those requirements are met.
