| Bagua Zhang, 8-Trigrams Palm, is an internal martial art with many similar qualities as Tai Chi Chuan. Bagua, however, is practiced while continuously walking, and with proficiency you are encouraged to increase speed making it a more rigorous workout. Bagua emphasizes coiling, twisting, and spiraling to confuse one's opponent and gain positional advantage. Bagua's serpentine qualities like in to a Swimming Dragon. If tai chi is considered stillness within motion, then bagua can be thought of as the calm in the eye of a whirlwind. |
